Lynn Kenny flies the flag for Scots at Spanish Open
Scotland’s Lynn Kenny fired a fine final round of 69 and made it into the top 25 on a day when Wales’ Becky Brewerton clinched her second Ladies’ European Tour title at the Spanish Open at Panoramica.
Brewerton, the 2007 English Open Champion, knew she needed the win to boost her hopes of retaining her place in the European team for next month’s Solheim Cup and she shot a final round 70 to win by a runaway six shots on 18 under par.
Welsh rookie Breanne Locuks was in a four-way tie for second place after a great 66, while Archerfield’s Kenny had six birdies, including three in a row to finish, and was the best of the Scots on five under par and joint 25th.
Musselburgh’s Vikki Laing had two weekend rounds of 72 and finished on four under par and tied 30th, while Krystle Caithness, the third Scot to make the cut, closed with a 73 and was on five over par.
Brewerton led from round one and has moved into the top ten in the Solheim Cup rankings. The top five are automatically selected after the Ricoh Women’s British Open in two weeks’ time.
