Kenny and Queen tied for 14th with a round to play in Spain
Scotland’s Lynn Kenny and Clare Queen shot a third day level par 72 and edged into a tie for 14th place with a round to play at the Comunitat Valenciana European Nations Cup in Spain.
The French pair of Gwladys Nocera and Anne-Lisa Caudal shot a terrific 65 in the fourball format and moved to 16 under par and a two stroke lead over the Dutch duo of Marjet van der Graaf and Christel Boeljon, who shot 66. Overnight leaders Meg Mallon and Beth Daniel (USA) slipped back to fourth place on ten under after a 73.
The Scots highlighted the round with an eagle at the long ninth. But they only managed one birdie – at the 12th – and dropped shots at the first, seventh and tenth to finish on one over par.
Defending the title for England, Laura Davies and Lisa Hall had a fine 68 and moved into seventh place on seven under par and two shots ahead of Wales’ Becky Brewerton and Lydia Hall, who had a 69.
Kenny and Queen also played for Scotland last year when they finished joint 13th.
