Paul Lawrie issues intentions to climb back up the competition ladder
Paul Lawrie has vowed to use the Scottish Challenge at Spey Valley this week as a springboard to future success.
The 40-year-old, who won the 1999 Open, has opted to take part in the Challenge Tour event instead of travelling to the Moravia Silesia Open in the Czech Republic on the European Tour.
And Lawrie is hopeful that the hours spent on the driving range with new coach Bob Torrance will be the key to winning at the Aviemore course.
He said: "The Challenge Tour is a fantastic level and I'm sure the winning score this week will be quite low, but I'm confident I can do well if I'm at my best.
"The time spent on the driving range has been pretty full-on recently but working with a character like Bob opens your eyes.
"I hope he can turn my form around, although my form has not been horrific, it has just been inconsistent.
"I want to be back up there, I don't want to be finishing 25th in tournaments, I want to be winning."
