Vikki Laing the ray of light for Scots in Open qualifying
Vikki Laing was the only bright spot on a dark day of British Open final qualifying for Scottish women as she claimed a place at Royal Lytham next week.
Ten Scots were chasing one of the 20 remaining places at the Lancashire links but it was only Musselburgh's Laing who prevailed with her one-under par 73 at Fairhaven Golf Club proving good enough.
However there was heartache for Ayrshire's Pamela Feggans and Monfieth?s Kathryn Imrie, who missed out in a huge play-off featuring 14 players, after finishing on 75.
Craigielaw amateur Jane Turner finished a shot further back with Michele Thomson and Lynn Kenny carding scores of 77 and 78.
Pamela Pretswell, Katy McNicoll, Clare Queen and Kylie Walker also had disappointing days as they all failed to break 80.
