Krystle Caithness finishes as top Scot despite late slip At Royal St David's
Scotland’s Krystle Caithness slipped to a final round 76 but was still the top Scot in joint 27th place at the S4/C Wales Ladies’ Championship of Europe at Royal St David’s, Harlech.
England’s Karen Stupples, who was overlooked last week for a European Solheim Cup wild card by Captain Alison Nicholas, gave her response to the snub by winning the title thanks to a final round 70 and a 12 under par total.
The 2004 Women’s British Open Champion won by a shot from South Korea’s Amy Yang (73), with Wales’ Becky Brewerton in fourth place on eight under after a 71.
Musselburgh’s Vikki Laing (74) was the next best of the Scots at just inside the top 50 on four over par, with Michele Thomson (78) on 11 over and Heather MacRae (80) on 16 over.
Stupples played in the 2005 Solheim Cup and was one of the tips for the match starting against the USA at Rich Harvest Farms in Illinois next week. But Nicholas chose Brewerton, Swede Anna Nordqvist and Scotland’s Janice Moodie.
