Kenny the top Scot

Norway's Suzann Pettersen, the world No.3, did not have to hit a shot in the fourth round before she was declared the winner of the Deutsche Bank Swiss Open in Losone yesterday.

Lynn Kenny was the best of the three Scots in a tie for 44th place after a third round 71 for level par. Clare Queen was a shot further back following a 72 and rookie Jenna Wilson was on two over after a 73.

With heavy overnight rain having completely water-logged the course, tournament director Andy Lott explained: "The course was completely unplayable, and there was also a safety aspect.

"It's very disappointing, but really there was no option but to cancel the final round and declare the results over 54-holes."

Pettersen, a six-time winner worldwide last year, was still a deserved winner. On a Saturday of spectacular scoring, the 27-year-old packed seven birdies and an eagle into a 64 for 22 under par, and she was six ahead of South Korean teenager, Amy Yang, who had a hole in one at the seventh in a 65.

France's Gwladys Nocera, who won the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies' Scottish Open at the Carrick three weeks ago, finished in third place on 15 under after setting a new course record of 62.
