Kenny falls short

Scotland's Lynn Kenny was tied for seventh going into the final round, but a costly final two holes saw her drop to joint 36th in the Portuguese Open at Quinta de Cima on the Algarve.

The Archerfield golfer was just three strokes off the lead after a 68 on Saturday and she made headway with three birdies in the first 15 holes in the final round. But she then ran up a double-bogey five at the short 17th and dropped another shot at the last for a 74.

On four under par, Kenny finished 12 shots behind the winner, France's Anne-Lise Caudal, who birdied the par five 18th for a 70 and a maiden win on the Ladies' European Tour.

Caudal sneaked a one stroke win over England's Georgina Simpson (68) and compatriot Gwladys Nocera, who won the Ladies' Scottish Open last month and the Dutch Open last week.

Clare Queen was the second Scot to make the cut and she closed with a level par 72 for one under par and a tie for 49th.
