Scottish duo Lyn Kenny and Pamela Feggans sharing fourth place at Tour School
Acherfield’s Lynn Kenny and Patna’s Pamela Feggans both hit great form and moved into a share of fourth place at the halfway stage of the Ladies’ European Tour Qualifying School over the South course at La Manga in Spain.
The Curtis Cup pair of Krystle Caithness (St Regulus) and Michele Thomson (Ellon McDonald) also stayed well in the hunt, while Musselburgh’s Vikki Laing is on the brink after shooting a second round 75 for a share of 49th place on five over par.
After the third round, the top 50 and ties will make the final day cut and the leading 30 will gain full cards at end of the four round test.
Kenny, who recently restarted working with coach Kevin Craggs, had five birdies in a joint best of day four under par 69. The 28-year-old has a category for this season, but is hoping to upgrade to full status and has already booked a flight to Australia on Saturday for the start of the season Down Under next month.
Feggans, who played with success on the US Futures Tour last year, had a solid 72 to join Kenny on two under par 144, and they were just three shots behind the leader, American Beth Allen.
Caithness, who will be 20 next week, had a double-bogey six at the 16th, but still managed a 74 for joint 15th on one over par, while Thomson, the Scottish Amateur Champion, opened with a bogey, birdied the 15th and then dropped a shot at the tricky par five 18th to stand on three over par and in joint 32nd place.
Buchanan Castle’s Kylie Walker, with a 76 for ten over, and Strathaven’s Jenna Wilson, on 12 over after two rounds of 79, are the two Scots who need a great third day to survive the cut.
