Jack and Elliot lead

Jack McDonald and Elliot Wilson shared the lead of the Scottish boys' open at the end of the first round after carding impressive two-under par 69s.

Kilmarnock's McDonald, a quarter-finalist in the boys match-play championship at Balgownie in April, fired four birdies in his round and would have held the outright lead until a bogey on the 18th at Ladybank.

But Berwick-upon-Tweed's Wilson, who started at the tenth, was impeccable throughout with a bogey free-round that included 16 pars and two birdies at the second and seventh.

McDonald and Wilson were the only players to finish under par with David Law, who is bidding for a rare match-play and open double at under-18s level, finishing with a 73.

Law is joined on two-over par by Ross Proctor, John Drummond, Nicholas MacAndrew and Kyle Godsman.
