Alastair Forsyth shoots a final round of 68 to finish eighth at Italian Open
Glasgow's Alastair Forsyth continued his recent upturn in form by carding a final round 68 to finish tied for eighth at the Italian Open.
The 33-year-old joined five other players at eight under with his third successive round of sub-70 but was still 11 shots behind eventual winner, Argentine Daniel Vanscik.
It was Forsyth's third top ten finish in four tournament and earned him £23,000 to move him to 88th in the Race to Dubai standings.
"I had to hang on a bit at the end but a 68 was a really good effort," said Forsyth.
"I've still got a lot of improving to do and need to find some consistency with my driver.
"Even when I drop down to a three-wood I'm still missing fairways and that's got to improve."
And Royal Aberdeen's Richie Ramsay enjoyed his best European Tour finish thanks to a last round of 70.
That left the rookie joint 14th but a significant upturn in form after missing eight cuts in his last 12 tournaments.
