Alastair Forsyth deflated after US PGA rock bottom finish
Alastair Forsyth admitted he would have to go back to the drawing board after carding a final-round 82 that left him rock bottom at the US PGA at Hazeltine.
The 33-year old finished 17-over par and a massive 25 shots behind winner Y.E. Yang – the first ever Asian winner of a major tournament – who came from two shots behind to beat World No.1 Tiger Woods.
Forsyth was unable to recreate the form that saw him finish tied ninth in the event last year and conceded his final round performance had left him despairing of his game.
“It's been a horrific week,” he said. “My first three days were okay but my final round can only be described as awful.
“It was back to square one and it was horrible from start to finish – I was five over after three and it was virtually game over after that.
“It was always going to be hard to come back after that and particularly around a course where there are not many birdie chances – I just basically gave up trying to fight with my game.”
