Former champ beats 14-year-old

 

Elaine Moffat, the 1998 Champion, ended the run of 14-year-old Lesley Atkins with a 4 and 3 quarter-final victory at the Scottish Women’s Championship at Southerness.

Louise Kenney (Pitreavie) pulled off a shock with a 3 and 2 win over last year’s Scottish ladies’ Golfing Association Order of Merit winner, Kylie Walker Buchanan Castle).

Kylie, the second qualifier, went out by 3 and 2 and Lousie now takes on Elaine in the semi-final. In the other match, Craigielaw’s Jane Turner lines up against Megan Briggs (Kilmalcolm).

Results: Quarter-finals: Jane Turner (Craigielaw) bt Caol Wilson (Murcar) 4 and 3; Megan Briggs (Kilmalcolm) bt Laura Murray (Alford)  3 and 1; Elaine Moffat (St Regulus) bt Lesley Atkins (Minto) 4 and 3; Louise Kenney (Pitreavie) bt Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle) 3 and 2
