Fiona’s county hat-trick

Fiona Norris, older sister of LPGA Tour player Mhairi McKay, has won the Lanarkshire women's county golf championship for a third time at Drumpellier Golf Club.

Fiona beat Joanna Scott (Cathkin Braes) 5 and 3 in the final – and it is the first time she has won under her married name. She first took the title as a 16-year-old in 1988 and won it again n 1992.

Fiona, a mother of two who has been a non-playing captain of Scottish teams in recent years, produced three birdies in the final - at the fourth, ninth and 10th.

In the semi-finals, Fiona beat defending champion Susan Wood (Drumpellier) by 4 and 3 while Joanna Scott overcame former wnner Lesley Lloyd (Hayston) 2 and 1.

It could turn into a double celebration for Fiona this weekend  - sister Mhairi (now Mrs Smith) is about to become a Mum for the first time.
