David Drysdale continues strong end to the season at Madrid Masters
David Drysdale cemented his place at the season-ending Dubai World Championship with his second Spanish podium of the season at the Madrid Masters.
The 34-year-old Borders golfer, who finished second at this year’s Andalucia Open, carded at final-round 67 to claim third spot and a cheque for £85,266.
After leaping from 50th to 41st in the money list, Drysdale will begin Thursday’s Portugal Masters at Vilamoura as the only Scot inside the top 50.
A 21-under final card of 267 secured the 2006 Peugeot Challenge champion his sixth top-ten cheque this year and all but sealed his place at November’s inaugural $7,500,000 stroke play season finale.
Englishman Ross McGowan secured his first Tour win in Spain, despite letting a seven-shot lead slip on the final day.
McGowan’s final round 71 was enough to hold off Finland’s Mikko Ilonen by three shots and Drysdale by four.
