Crunch time for Andrew Coltart at Singapore Masters
Former Ryder Cup golfer Andrew Coltart has vowed to put a torrid year to date behind him at the Singapore Masters and book his place on next year’s European Tour.
The 39-year-old picked up just his second top ten finish of the season at the Castello Masters in Spain after grabbing a share of eighth place in Spain.
That was good enough to travel to Singapore where a good performance could see him book his Euro spot ahead of the curtain closing season event the Australian Masters.
Only the top 115 on the money list are guaranteed membership next year and Coltart – who currently sits 124th – admitted it is now or never to rescue his season.
“I was elated with my finish in Spain and with the way I performed. I went there already prepared in my mind to go back to the tour school next month,” said Coltart.
“I know that I have two last chances to sort out my card and turn my season into a pretty good year – although I have come to Singapore not knowing where I am on the money list.
“All I know is that I’ve got this week and the Australian Masters to sew up my card. I need to refocus and get my energy levels back up.”
