Poor finish by Queen in second round of Open
Scotland's Clare Queen admitted she was "really frustrated" after dropping shots at the last two holes for a second round 73 that left her on level par 144 at the halfway stage of the Tenerife Ladies' Open at Costa Adeje.
Starting from the tenth, the 25-year-old had started brightly with three birdies in her first seven holes but she finished the round trailing nine shots behind the shock leader, 18-year-old Spanish amateur Carlota Ciganda.
"I really had it going, but that is the story of my season," said the Carrick golfer who is lying 37th on the European Tour Order of Merit. "I seem to play 16 or so good holes a round but the odd really costly mistake."
Queen has extra incentive to do well over the weekend. The top 25 on the Order of Merit on Sunday night will be exempt for the Ricoh Women's British Open at Sunningdale in August.
"It would be great to get in to the field without having to qualify," she admitted. "So I'll certainly be going out to try and shoot two really low rounds.
"I actually feel I'm never hit the ball better, but you also have to hole the putts."
