Catriona Matthew gives birth to her second child
Scottish No.1 Catriona Matthew and her husband, Graeme, became proud parents to a second daughter at the weekend. Sophie Lauren Matthew is a sister for two-year-old Katie.
Matthew, who has won six titles worldwide in a glorious career, is now hoping to be back on tour at the Evian Masters in France at the end of July. She also has her sights set on a fourth Solheim Cup appearance in Illinois in August.
But she appreciates that she will have to rely on one of the three Captain’s picks from Alison Nicholas if she is to make the European side. “But the fact that the match is in America should help my case,” sad the LPGA Tour regular.
Matthew, who won the LPGA’s Brasil Cup at the start of the year, is also intending to return full-time to the States next year although, in the longer term, she may play more on the Ladies’ European Tour.
Catriona is one of three Scottish Mums on Tour. Janice Moodie has a two-year-old son, Craig, while Mhairi McKay had her first child, Angus, just a couple of weeks ago.
