Catriona's 'favourite' major
Catriona Matthew rates Sunningdale as one of her favourite courses, so the Scottish No.1 is confident she can hit form in the final major of the women's season, the Ricoh Women's British Open.

"I've done well here in the past, and so I can call on some good memories," said the player who had her best finish of joint third in the Championship over the Berkshire course in 2001. "I've been playing pretty well all season, the difference will be whether the putts start to drop.

"I've been hitting the ball great, and it does get frustrating when nothing falls on the greens. But, hopefully, this week can be different."

Another three Scots are in the £1.1M field - Janice Moodie, Mhairi McKay and teenage amateur qualifier, Krystle Caithness.

McKay is hoping that local knowledge will help her cause. "I haven't done very well her ebefore," she said. "But I'm staying with my Uncle Frank this week and he's a club member. He's given me some tips."

Caithness played in last month's Curtis Cup at St Andrews, and the 19-year-old from Cellardyke in Fife admitted: "It's great to be teeing it up alongside the best in the world. One day, I would like to be a professional and this will be a good test."

Heading the chase for the £160,000 top prize is World No.1.Lorena Ochoa, already a six-time winner this season and a Mexican who charmed everyone with her win at St Andrews last year.
