Catriona continues fine form

Scotland’s Catriona Matthew was in the top 20 after rounds of 71 70 and 69 at the LPGA Tour’s CVS Pharmacy LPGA Challenge at Blackhawk in California.

Enjoying a superb end of season run following her win in the Ricoh Women’s British Open Championship, the 40-year-old was on six under par and tied for 17th place.

Matthew was the leading British player, while the second Scot in the field, Janice Moodie, was in 31st place on three under after matching her compatriot’s third round 69.

Swede Sophie Gustafson and world No.1 Lorena Ochoa were joint leaders on 16 under par.

Elsewhere, Ayrshire rookie Pamela Feggans was the best of the Scottish players in a tie for 30th place on five over par after a final round 74 at the Tenerife Ladies' Open.

Krystle Caithness had a 75 for seven over, Lynn Kenny slumped to a 79 for nine over and Clare Queen, the fourth Scot to make the cut, had a 77 for 13 over.
