Kenny, Queen and Moodie all gearing up for elite competition
It is a busy week for Scotland’s women professionals with Lynn Kenny and Clare Queen taking part in the Australia Women’s Open at the Metropolitan Club in Melbourne and Janice Moodie launching her LPGA season.
With Mhairi McKay and Catriona Matthew both expecting babies in May, Moodie is the sole Scot in the field for the SBS Open at Turtle Bay in Hawaii.
The tournament marks the start of the rookie LPGA year for Hawaii’s most famous golfer, Michelle Wie.
The 19-year-old has played in 23 LPGA events since turning professional in 2005, but this is her first as an official member of the Tour. She gained her playing rights at the Qualifying School in Florida in December.
McKay won’t be playing again before her the arrival of her first child, which is due on May 1.
But Matthew’s second daughter is expected at the end of May and she is intending to play in next month’s HSBC Championship in Singapore.
