Paul Lawrie still in the hunt with one round to go at Johnnie Walker Championship
Scotland’s Paul Lawrie is a single shot behind Sweden’s Peter Hedblom with one round remaining of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
The 1999 Open champion from Aberdeen carded a one-over 73 and missed a putt on the final green to go into the clubhouse on seven under par.
The 40-year old hadn’t recorded a bogey during his first two rounds but dropped shots at the fourth, tenth, 15th and 16th holes cost him his two-shot lead.
But Lawrie, who is chasing his first tour win in seven years, refused to focus on the negatives and insisted he couldn’t wait to start his final round on Sunday.
“I feel like I’m playing really well at the moment so I’m looking forward to getting out there again for the last round,” said the Scot.
“It’s been a long, long time since I went out in the final round in the last group so I’m going to enjoy it.”
