Forsyth aiming to emulate top ten finish of 2008 at US PGA
Alastair Forsyth has admitted he feels no extra pressure as he prepares to tee-up in this week’s USPGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club – despite his top-ten finish last year.
The 33-year-old finished tied ninth on three-over par in last year’s event at Oakland Hills in Detriot – eight shots adrift of eventual winner Padraig Harrington.
The Scottish number one joined Colin Montgomerie – the only other Scot in the field – for a practice round yesterday as he prepares to take on the Minnesota course and is hopeful history can repeat itself.
He said: “I can't believe it's been 12 months since my good finish in the PGA at Oakland Hills.
“I went there without any expectations whatsoever and finished inside the top ten and I've come here to Hazeltine feeling exactly the same.
“But the majors are where you want to be playing and considering this is my first this year, I'm just really happy to be here.”
