Bougherra screamer gives Rangers a point in opening round of Champions League
Madjid Bougherra rode to the rescue for Rangers, scoring a dramatic late equaliser to steal a precious point in Germany.
Pavel Pogrebniak opened the scoring for Stuttgart with a powerfully placed shot on 18 minutes as Rangers were caught napping early on.
Sasa Papac made a mess of a close-range header as Rangers improved dramatically after the interval.
Earlier, Ramgers goalkeeper Allan McGregor had to make a smart save inside the first minute to keep out a fierce Cacau strike, while Thomas Hitzlsperger hooked the rebound over the crossbar.
But with time running out Bougherra romped forward to smash in a wonderful equaliser on 77 minutes.
Midfielder Steven Davis clipped the post late on as Rangers almost grabbed the unlikeliest of away-day Champions League wins.
