Woeful Rangers routed by rampant Romanians at Ibrox
Rangers' Champions League hopes are hanging by a thread after they crashed to an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Unirea Urziceni.
Walter Smith's men got off to a dream start when Pedro Mendes fired them in front but from that moment it was a disastrous night at Ibrox.
Steven Davis missed a penalty with own goals from Kyle Lafferty and Lee McCulloch adding to their misery.
Mendes gave them a dream start when his second minute free-kick took a deflection and flew beyond the reach of Daniel Tudor.
But when Unirea coach and former Chelsea full-back Dan Petrescu made a tactical switch by introducing Marius Onofras for Epaminonda Nicu in the 18th minute the game changed.
Marius Bilasco tapped in an equaliser on 33 before Davis saw his 38th penalty saved by Tudor after Joao Bruno Fernandes had handballed.
Five minutes after the break Lafferty deflected in a Fernandes free-kick before McCulloch did the same on 59 from a Tiberiu Balan free-kick.
And when Pablo Brandan fired home from 30-yards in the 65th minute to wrap up the Romainans first ever European win hordes of home fans headed for the exit.
Rangers are now rooted to the bottom of group G with just one point from their opening three matches.
