SPL round-up - Rangers go top with Old Firm derby win
Glasgow Rangers took a giant step towards the SPL title after Steven Davis' first-half strike was enough to give them a 1-0 win in the final Old Firm league game of the season.
Walter Smith's men are now two points clear of their old foes with three games to play after Davis' 37th minute strike courtesy of former Celtic striker Kenny Miller's cross.
After a typically hectic start Miller's low driven cross was turned home past Artur Boruc by Davis inside the six-yard box.
Davis was called into action at the other end on the stroke of half time when he cleared Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's header off the line.
Celtic took the game to their hosts in the second half but were unable to make a breakthrough. Kris Boyd had a chance to make the game safe on the hour mark, but with just Boruc to beat he could only shoot straight at the Polish keeper.
Elsewhere, Falkirk and Kilmarnock drew 1-1 at Rugby Park in a game both sides needed to win in the battle against relegation.
Darren Barr headed the visitors ahead in the 56th minute but Kevin Kyle equalised for the home side 11 minutes later.
Fellow relegation strugglers St. Mirren suffered a 3-1 home defeat against Motherwell with David Clarkson scoring two goals for the visitors.
