Jim Gannon gets green light at Fir Park
Motherwell have confirmed that Jim Gannon has won the race for the vacant Fir Park hotseat and will be unveiled on Tuesday.
The former Stockport boss, 40, beat off competition from Steve Staunton, Lawrie Sanchez and former Well midfielder Gary McAllister to succeed Mark McGhee.
Gannon and assistant Peter Ward, who is also part of the new management team, were victims of the cost-cutting at the cash-strapped Edgeley Park club at the end of the season and will take charge of Motherwell's Europa League clash with Llanelli on Thursday.
A statement on the club's website said: "We will be announcing Jim Gannon as the new manager on Tuesday, the club's 20th manager.
"After a lengthy and in-depth interview process, Gannon emerged as the outstanding candidate."
