Mark McGhee vows to scour transfer market after Pittodrie humiliation
New Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee has vowed to scour the transfer market for new blood after their European humiliation against Sigma Olomouc.
The Dons were thrashed 5-1 in the first leg as the Czech outfit ran riot to ruin McGhee's first competitive game at Pittodrie.
Charlie Mulgrew levelled Michal Hubnik's early strike but after the break the visitors hit top gear and all but booked their place in the next round thanks to goals from Lukas Bajer, Jakub Petr, Michal Ordos and Tomas Horava.
And ahead of the SPL opener on August 15 McGhee insists he must boost his ranks.
"There's the money to spend that I was promised when I came here and with it I hope to bring in three players, maybe a fourth on a loan deal," said McGhee.
"We need to get players in before the Celtic game but I have got the money to do it.
"The financial situation in the game now is so desperate that bringing in a player from the English Championship or League One is just impossible for us.
"We've got to look for nuggets from abroad, loans, free young players from down south and other leagues in Scotland."
