Mark McGhee confirmed as new manager of Aberdeen FC on two-year-deal.
Mark McGhee has been confirmed as the new Aberdeen boss on a two-year-deal after leaving Motherwell.
The former Wolves, Reading and Leicester boss, who made more than 160 appearances for the Dons during his playing days, will step into the shoes of Jimmy Calderwood, who left at the end of the season.
McGhee's assistant at Motherwell, Scott Leitch, is also Aberdeen bound after the two clubs agreed on the level of compensation.
And Dons director of football Willie Miller, who played alongside McGhee at Aberdeen in the early 1980s, insists McGhee was the only man for the job.
"The board was unanimous in the choice of Mark," said Miller.
"We are delighted that Mark and Scott have agreed to join us and, with the return of European football next month, these are exciting times.
"Mark is well known to most Aberdeen supporters and, of course, having been here as a player, he also knows what the club means to them and he's itching to get started."
