Gold insists SPL will plug Setanta shortfall
Chairman Lex Gold is confident the Scottish Premier League will secure a new television broadcasting deal following Setanta's collapse.
The Irish firm's failure to meet an overdue payment of £3m meant the contract returned to the SPL on Tuesday and they have already begun the search for a replacement.
ESPN have snapped-up Setanta's English Premier League package and Gold believes they will be able to fill their shortfall and set the minds of the cash-strapped clubs at rest.
"We are actively engaging in the process of selling our broadcasting rights for next season and beyond," said Gold.
"We have a product that is valuable in the marketplace and we will be seeking to see that value covered.
"The clubs have been kept up to date on a regular basis so they are able to make prudent decisions."
