Darren Fletcher could be handed Champions League lifeline
Darren Fletcher could be handed a way back into Manchester United's Champions League final clash with Barcelona, according to Uefa general secretary David Taylor.
The 25-year-old Scot saw his dreams of a Rome final go up in smoke on Tuesday when he was controversially sent off during United?s comprehensive 3-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates.
European football's governing initially body told boss Alex Ferguson he had no right to appeal the decision but Taylor believes Fletcher could be given a reprieve.
"I have spoke with Alex Ferguson personally on this and I have tried to give him as much as advice as I could with regards the procedure in these circumstances," said Taylor.
"If the club want to write to us with information, such as video evidence, explaining why they think this is a harsh punishment they can do that and we would refer the matter to a disciplinary body."
