Kyle Lafferty apologises for pathetic injury fake against Aberdeen
Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty has made a public apology to Charlie Mulgrew for feigning injury that saw the Aberdeen defender sent off at Ibrox at the weekend.
Lafferty has been fined by the SPL leaders after falling to the ground theatrically following a clash with Mulgrew during Rangers' crucial 2-1 win.
Referee Stuart Dougal has since announced that he will end his top-flight career a week early and Lafferty is full of remorse.
"It was something I should not have done and I deeply regret what happened," said Lafferty.
"I will make a personal apology to Charlie and I also want to apologise to the referee and his assistants.
"It's difficult enough for officials to handle important matches without me making it more difficult by behaving the way I did."
The Scottish Football Association could take action against the Northern Ireland international but he will be available for Rangers last match of the season at Dundee United.
