Craigan believes new Well boss is close

Motherwell caretaker boss Stephen Craigan expects to see a new manager in charge at Fir Park before the end of the week.

The Northern Ireland defender will take training when the players return for pre-season this week following Mark McGhee's move to Aberdeen.

Well have already interviewed former Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton and ex-Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez.

Former players Gary McAllister, Luc Nijholt and Miodrag Krivokapic have also been linked with the post and Craigan, who has started taking his coaching badges, said: "We hope to have a new manager by the end of this week.

"I will organise the training for now but that will change when someone is appointed.

"I'm in no position to become manager of the football club, I'm still a player and want to be for another two or three years."
