Owen Coyle speaks out about tough descision to turn Celtic down
Burnley boss Owen Coyle revealed for the first time he knocked back the opportunity to manage boyhood club Celtic to have a crack at the English Premier League.
The 43-year-old was strongly linked with the vacant Parkhead post after Gordon Strachan left at the end of the season before West Brom manager Tony Mowbray was appointed.
But Coyle insists he wanted to continue his 'adventure' at Turf Moor after guiding the Clarets into English football's top flight.
He said: "I'm not going to pretend I didn't think about it, I'm a Celtic fan.
"It's where I'm from, a big part of who I am and, of course, there's the chance of Champions League football.
"But then I looked at what we had built at Burnley, I thought of players I'd persuaded to be part of this and, in the end, I knew I had to stay and carry on this incredible adventure."
