Owen Coyle's Burnley snap up Steven Fletcher for £3 million
Recently-appointed Hibs boss John Hughes has failed in his bid to keep star striker Steven Fletcher at Easter Road.
The 22-year-old has signed for newly-promoted English Premier League outfit Burnley for a club record fee of "3m on a four-year contract.
Fletcher, who has four Scotland caps to his name, was subject of a failed bid from Celtic in January and Hughes had hoped to persuade him to stay.
He was also named as young player of the year by both the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football Writers' Association.
But former Hibs striker Keith Wright believes Fletcher has made the trip south of the border too early in his career.
"It will be a blow for Hibs to lose such a quality player, but personally I think he is going just a bit early," he said.
"I think he's still got a bit to learn before going down south and I don't know if he will go there and play every week."
