Dundee United v Rangers clash abandoned due to flooding
Rangers boss Walter Smith admitted his disappointment after seeing his side's clash with Dundee United abandoned at half-time due to a waterlogged pitch, but confessed referee Mike Tumilty made the right decision.
Steven David had put Rangers a goal to the good at Tannadice but heavy rain throughout the match prompted Tumilty and his assistants to bring a premature end to proceedings during the interval.
Smith said: "It's disappointing for us, being 1-0 up, but it was probably the right decision.
"I don't think we can argue very much with it."
Tumilty explained that he and his assistants felt the conditions were threatening player safety, leaving him no choice but to call the match off.
"I was thinking about the players' safety," he said. "Water was starting to lie on the pitch, the ball stopped rolling and the worry was having lots of players coming together.
"Towards the end of the half I started to become seriously concerned. Towards half-time it became almost impossible."
