Eddie May praises effort of his players as Falkirk fall in Europe
Falkirk's first ever European campaign came to a premature end as FC Vaduz went through thanks to Franz Burgmeier's extra-time strike.
The Bairns arrived in Liechtenstein with a 1-0 lead from the first leg at Falkirk Park but spent the majority of the match on the back foot.
Emil Noll levelled the tie up on 23 minutes before Burgmeier booked the home side's passage into the second round.
And Falkirk's misery was completed when striker Carl Finnigan was shown red for an alleged elbow on the Vaduz captain in the tunnel after the final whistle.
But despite the defeat, Bairns manager Eddie May insisted he had taken heart from a number of his player's performances, particularly that of Austrian goalkeeper Robert Olejnik who pulled off some outstanding saves late on to force extra time.
"It was a tough night but I will say that our back four were absolutely fantastic the majority of the night," said May.
"And Robert Olejnik had some good saves - that's why he's here. I've got great confidence in him, I don't think there's a better goalkeeper in Scotland for his age."
