European silver medallist Richard Kruse reached the last 16 of the World Championships in Antalya, Turkey, but missed out on the medals.

Kruse beat Israel's Yaaqov Or Htuel 15-10 in his opening match in the men's foil and then took cre of russia's Alexey Khovansky 15-9 to reach the last 16.

But he then lost 15-11 to American Kurt Getz in his bid to reach the last eight. Fellow-Scot Ed Jefferies missed out in the qualifying rounds.

Anna Bentley lost in the last 64 when she went down 15-6 to Russian Larisa Korobeinikova.
