Ed Jefferies excited about first senior World Championships
Munlochy fencing star Ed Jefferies has vowed to use the upcoming Fencing World Championships in Antalya, Turkey as a stepping stone to his senior career.
The 20-year old world junior number two is the youngest member of the British squad in Turkey, having achieved some breakthrough results this season.
After scooping his first Junior World Cup victory in Poland, the Scot became Britain's first junior world championship medal winner since 2002 when he struck silver at the World Junior Fencing Championships in Belfast in April.
And with a senior career beckoning, Jefferies, who was named British Junior Fencer of the Year last week, insists he is committed to turning full-time.
"I'm really looking forward to competing against the seniors again in Turkey," said Jefferies.
"After the junior silver, I've been concentrating on making the transition from junior to senior as efficiently and effectively as possible.
"The top guys in fencing are the ones that train really hard and are 100 per cent dedicated, it's no secret that's the key to success.
"So I'm just going to keep working hard in training. The results have been coming for me this season and hopefully that will continue."
