McCarroll joins world class event

Scotland's Monique McCarroll will be among the the British divers taking on the world's elite competitors as the FINA Diving World Series arrives in Sheffield.

McCarroll and parnter Sarah Barrow are continuing their preparations for the Beijing Olympics in the women's 10m synchro event.

Only the world’s top eight divers have been invited to compete in the event and number one ranked nation China will be there in force but will face tough competition from Canada, Russia and the USA as well as a young British contingent.

McCarroll and Barrow finished fourth at the European Championships in Eindhoven earlier this year and picked up seventh place at the recent Canada Cup event in Montreal, an event that was dominated by the Chinese.

But the star of the show in Sheffield is set to be British teenager Tom Daley who goes in the men's 10m platform and the 10m synchro with partner Blake Aldridge.
