Scotland's Robert Thornton clinched his place in the second round of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship with a 3-1 win over Wayne Jones at the Alexandra Palace in London.

Thornton, who has moved up to 35th in the Order of Merit since he joined the PDC in June, said afterwards: "It was a very scrappy game.
