Sir Chris to make a Lady of Sarra

Sir Chris Hoy has announced he will make a Lady of his girlfriend Sarra Kemp, after revealing the 29-year-old lawyer had accepted his marriage proposal.

The four-time Olympic gold medallist proposed to Kemp - who claimed to have no idea who the cyclist was when they first met - over the Easter weekend.

Sir Chris, who was awarded a knighthood in the Queen's New Year Honours list after winning three gold medals at last August's Beijing Olympic Games, said ?We're very happy and plan to get married some time next year.

?We had a glass of champagne and met up with Sarra's mum and dad and my mum and dad when we returned to Edinburgh on Monday.?

The couple - who are both from Edinburgh - met through mutual friends and have been together for two years. Sir Chris won his first Olympic gold in Athens in 2004 before starring for Team GB four years later.
