Glasgow’s Aileen McGlynn struck time trial gold at the Para-Cycling World Championships in Manchester.
The double Paralympic champion, teaming-up with regular pilot Ellen Hunter, was odds-on favourite to take gold in the B&VI 1000m event and duly obliged, breaking her own world record in the process.
The 36-year old romped home in 1.09:544 minutes, just edging past her winning time from Beijing of 1.09:066 mins with her nearest rivals in Manchester more than three seconds back.
American Paralympic champion from 2004, Karissa Whitsell eventually emerged with silver in 1.12:222 mins with Germany’s Henrike Handrup edging out Britain’s Lora Turnham to claim bronze.
