McGlynn focusing on Paralympic World Cup but 2014 remains in her mind
Triple Paralympic champion Aileen McGlynn insists she will be gunning for gold at the BT Paralympic World Cup later this month, but has plenty of other irons in the fire.
The Scot will compete in Manchester with new pilot Vicky Begg for the first time, having teamed up with the 35-year-old world triathlon champion in December.
McGlynn claimed double gold with Ellen Hunter in Beijing, but having met fellow Begg at her local club, the Johnstone Wheelers, she reassessed her options.
And while McGlynn remains adamant that does not spell the end for Hunter, the three-time world champion revealed a change would be necessary if she is to realise her dream of representing Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.
"While it's a bit experimental for myself and Vicky, I always go into competition wanting to and thinking I could win and it'll be no different in Manchester," said McGlynn.
"Vicky has never done a competitive track race before and she's on a very steep learning curve, but there's no point in doing it if you are not there to win.
"The main reason it came about is that obviously this is the year after the Olympics and it's a bit of an experimental year.
"But also because I'm already planning on competing at the Commonwealth Games for Scotland and obviously Vicky is Scottish but Ellen Hunter is not."
