Hoy challenges talented youngsters to make the most of their talent
Four-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy insists he is constantly looking over his shoulder at the next generation of British talent – despite his all-conquering display at the World Cup last week.
Hoy scooped gold in the spring, keirin and team sprint in Manchester last week – the same events in which he won his three golds in Beijing.
But the 33-year-old knows reputation counts for nothing in the Great Britain squad and is adamant he will have to continually earn his place in the team in the run up to London 2012.
“There is no lack of talent – particularly in Scotland – but the difficulty is making the most of it,” said Hoy.
“The good thing is that there is talent coming through and the more people who are experienced at track cycling the better.
“If they have the opportunity to use a track for 12 months a year, then there is more of a chance of one or two popping up and doing well.”
