Hoy backs his mentor Maclean to shine as Paralympic tandem pilot
Four-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy is convinced his former GB team-mate and fellow Scot Craig Maclean will be a hit as a Paralympic pilot.
Maclean, Hoy and Jason Queally won team sprint silver at Sydney 2000 and both Maclean and Queally have changed career paths to become Paralympic pilots to blind or visually impaired cyclists.
And Hoy, who, as part of Team GB, shares the Manchester Velodrome with Britain's Para-cyclists, insists both Queally and Maclean can capture gold at the London Paralympics.
"I see Jason and Craig trying out piloting all the time and have been a witness to their transition into tandem racing," said Hoy.
"For Craig it wasn't such a big deal because he had ridden tandems before but for Jason it was very foreign.
"They're both extremely talented cyclists and I'm sure they can continue Great Britain's Paralympic dominance at London."
