Hoy's message for aspiring champions
In 2004, Edinburgh-born Chris Hoy achieved the distinction of being crowned Olympic, Commonwealth and World Champion.

A 2000 Olympic silver medallist, the athlete with an MBE after his name also has a trophy cabinet bulging with World Cup wins.

Consequently, the 32 year-old Scot who will be gunning for gold at the Olympics in Beijing this August, knows a thing or two about winning.

And speaking from Germany over the weekend, the flying Scot whom as a kid enjoyed success in BMX riding and even competed at national level in rowing, offered some simple advice for Scottish school kids who aspire to be Olympians of the future:

"I would say just enjoy your sport and never give up because it's not always guys who are the best when you are at school who become champions. You just have to have the determination to do the best you can and if you do that at every stage then the sky is the limit."
