Hoy determined to make it a treble in Beijing
Team sprint gold winning Scotsman Chris Hoy is hungry for more glory at the Olympic Games, and has his sights set firmly on a trio of golds.
Tomorrow – Saturday – he will race in the keirin, one of cycling’s more bizarre events, where sprinters follow a motorbike that gradually speeds up before departing the track and leaving the racers to it.
Then he will return again on Sunday to bid for gold in the men’s individual sprint, and event that he dramatically won at the 2008 World Championships in March.
But Hoy isn’t worried about being burned out. He said: "There's still plenty in the tank.
"At the end of the week, if I get three (keirin and men's sprint), I'll do a dance for you and that's a promise."
Hoy is also the reigning Olympic champion in the kilo, an event that was scrapped in favour of BMX following the Athens Games in 2004.
