McGlynn wins gold at Paralympic World Cup
Glasgow’s Aileen McGlynn won gold and recorded a world best time for tandem pairings in the kilo race at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester today (Friday).
McGlynn and her partner, Ellen Hunter, were comfortable winners, finishing in a time of 1:09:562 at the velodrome.
McGlynn was delighted to have beaten the one minute, ten seconds barrier.
"We knew our training was going well but until you go out there, you never really know what to expect," she told the BBC.
"We beat our world record four weeks ago in training but we didn't peak for that so the signs were there.
"We have progressed a lot as a pairing over the last four years and things are going well."
Unfortunately, her time will not be recorded as official, as there is no anti-doping enforcement at the event.
