Under-19s back to full strength

Coach Wright has high hopes for under-19s
After defeating Greenock and Grange already in the Premier Division of the SNCL this season, Scotland's U-19 squad will be hoping to record a hat-trick of wins in their debut year in the top-flight league when they play Heriot's CC at Goldenacre on Sunday 15th June in Edinburgh.
And Craig Wright, Cricket Scotland's Performance Manager and U-19 Coach confirmed yesterday that the squad will be at full strength for the encounter.
"It's great because for the first time this season we have a full squad available. It's good to have guys competing for places," commented Wright.
Last week the U-19s won 2 and lost 1 in a 4-team tournament at Longhurst Hall in Durham. After going down to a Northern Universities select, the Scots bounced back to record 136 and convincing bowl out Irish team Leinster and then going on to record 172 against Warwickshire Academy, defeating the aspiring county players by three runs.
"We were maybe caught a little cold against Northern Universities but the boys came back for the other two matches. We played an excellent game against Warwickshire. We've now beaten two Academy teams (Durham is the other) whose players are possible county players of the future," commented Wright.
"It really shows our guys that they (Scotland) can play."
This week will also see the Scotland Lions (A team) in action in a 3-day match against Derbyshire.
Wright will be player coach for that encounter in a Scotland squad that will also feature at least three rising young stars: Matt Parker, Ean chalmers and Ian Flannigan.
