Watson the lone warrior as Scotland suffer another drubbing
Former England spinner Shaun Udal starred with bat and ball as Middlesex sent Scotland crashing to their fifth successive Friends Provident Trophy defeat at the Grange.
The 40-year-old smashed a unbeaten 79 from just 46 balls and took three for 32 as the Crusaders wrapped up an easy 138 run victory during the Scot's first home game of the campaign.
Ireland batsman Eoin Morgan set up skipper Udal's onslaught with 55 before the veteran's quick-fire 61 minute innings which included five fours and three sixes.
Scotland never got going in reply and when skipper Gavin Hamilton fell in the first over to Chris Silverwood there was to be no way back.
Ryan Watson top scored with 47 but wasn't supported as Scotland were skittled out for 142 inside 35 overs.
Udal claimed the scalps of Cameron Borgas, Jan Stander and Gordon Drummond while Neil Dexter and Dawid Malan chipped in with two wickets each.
